There are rare watches, and then there are watches that redefine what collectors thought was possible. This Movado Cronoplan belongs firmly in the latter category.
We are proud to present what is very likely one of the finest surviving Movado wristwatches in existence, and quite possibly the best Cronoplan known today. Fresh to the market after more than ninety years, this remarkable discovery is only the fourth documented gold-cased example and just the second known with center seconds, placing it among the rarest executions of one of Movado's most fascinating creations.
Its near-flawless black glossy dial, with applied sector markers and elegant raised Breguet numerals, is nothing short of extraordinary. Complete with its original presentation box, period strap, and original Unroc buckle, this is the kind of museum-grade survivor collectors rarely have the chance to encounter.
As important as the reference itself is, the preservation of this example is what truly sets it apart. The glossy black dial retains exceptional depth and clarity, while every detail remains remarkably crisp. It is the sort of condition that photographs struggle to convey.
Finding a Cronoplan is exceptionally difficult; finding a gold example with center seconds is rarer still. Finding one preserved at this level is the kind of opportunity that appears perhaps once in a generation.
The case bears the Poinçon de Maître No. 115 of Favre & Perret, one of Switzerland's most respected case makers. Their work extended well beyond Movado, supplying cases to Rolex, Omega, Vacheron Constantin, and Patek Philippe, including icons such as the original Nautilus Ref. 3700 and Ref. 3940. For collectors, this hallmark speaks for itself.
