1979 Rolex Submariner | Ref. 1680 | Mark 2 Matte Dial | With Box

The introduction of the ref. 1680 in the Rolex catalog marked the most significant update to the Submariner to date, adding a date function for the first time. Rolex continues to offer Submariner models with or without the date feature, but the ref. 1680 was the pioneer in this regard. Produced until the late 1970s, the reference saw minimal changes, with the primary variation being the color of the "Submariner" font on the dial.

The ref. 1680 strikes an ideal balance, at least in the eyes of vintage enthusiasts, between nostalgic allure and Rolex dependability. This is the quintessential vintage Submariner that can be worn nearly every day, in almost any setting. When we discover a piece as stunning as this one, we’re excited to list it and find it a new owner. With its matte dial, lovely lume patina, and well-preserved Mark 3 bezel, it truly offers everything you could desire in a Rolex Submariner.

CONDITION

This piece is in good, authentic condition. It's worn but not abused, with a sharp and tight bracelet. The dial is beautiful, retaining all its lume intact, with a matching handset color which were probably relumed in the past, and a well-preserved bezel.

With its original Rolex stainless steel solid Oyster No. 93150 bracelet with No. 580 end-links and divider extension.

It has been fully serviced and keeps a fantastic time.
