WHY IS THIS WATCH IMPORTANT

This watch is more than just a beautiful-looking one,  there's actually a lot behind this brand and the KonTiki reference that appears on the dial.

Eterna has been here since 1856 so there's a lot of history to take into consideration when talking about this brand.

This particular model was named after The Kon-Tiki expedition that was a 1947 journey by raft across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands, led by Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl. The raft was named Kon-Tiki after the Inca god Viracocha, for whom "Kon-Tiki" was said to be an old name.

Heyerdahl believed that people from South America could have reached Polynesia during pre-Columbian times, Heyerdahl and five companions sailed the raft for 101 days over 6,900 km (4,300 miles) across the Pacific Ocean before smashing into a reef at Raroia in the Tuamotus on August 7, 1947. The crew made successful landfall and all returned safely.

 CONDITION

This watch is in overall very nice condition, the case seems to be polished in the past and there are some scratches around the case. the case back medallion made of gold is still present. The dial and hands are in great condition with some minor aging and patina normal for a watch of this age.

The watch is in running condition keeps good time for a watch of its age.
