WHY IS THIS WATCH IMPORTANT

It's hard to ignore the Longines “Tre Tacche“, one of today’s hottest vintage high-quality timepieces.  they are nicknamed because of the three notches in the waterproof case-back, The Italian word “tacche” means notches and I think you can guess the meaning of Tre.

This 32mm version was in production for a very short amount of time around 1940, equipped with the rare 23m caliber. 

The case is unpolished, thick, and in great shape.  The dial is also very well-preserved, with only the lightest of spotting towards the edges of the dial, visible only at very close inspection.

According to the Longines Extract from the Archives, The original serial number 6'290'xxx identifies a wristwatch in stainless steel bearing the reference 5040 and the order number 21914. It is fitted with a Longines manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 23M, and was invoiced on 26 June 1942 to the company Perusset, which was at that time our agent for South America.

The case back is marked with the number 113, the same as the case lug number.
