NOS* 1920s Jump-Hour Anonymous - Stainless Steel | Large 25.5mm x 41mm | Cal. As340

Not just rare and beautiful, but preserved in a condition that makes even seasoned watch enthusiasts pause, this stainless steel jump-hour is something special. Remarkably close to NOS, it is quite possibly the finest example of its kind we’ve handled. As many collectors know, most jump-hour watches from this era were produced in chrome-plated cases, and the few that survived often did so in compromised condition due to poor water resistance. This example tells a very different story. Simply put, it’s a museum-quality piece.

Jump-hour watches of the 1920s sit at the crossroads of Art Deco design and mechanical curiosity. In an era obsessed with modernity, watchmakers questioned even the hands themselves, replacing them with a digital-style display where the hour snaps crisply into place every sixty minutes. The result was playful, futuristic, and perfectly in step with the optimism of the time.

Substantial for its time, with dimensions just over 25mm by 41mm and wide 20mm lugs, it carries a surprising presence on the wrist. Both elegant and assured, it embodies the bold creativity of 1920s watchmaking.

CONDITION

The case is as close to new old stock as one could hope for, exceptionally sharp and free of any noticeable marks. The movement is clean, as are the numeral discs.

The watch has been revised and is in good working condition, especially considering its nearly 100-year-old age.
