MINT* 1940s Movado Sport - Breguet Numbers | François Borgel | Two-Tone Gold and Steel 33mm | Ref. 18618 | Cal. C260M

Finding a vintage Movado in truly pristine condition isn’t something that happens by chance. It takes patience and a bit of luck to come across one that hasn’t been overworked or softened by time.

This is one of those rare finds.

The case remains unpolished, preserving the crisp lines and original character that collectors quietly chase. It was made by François Borgel, a name that resonates for good reason, the same case maker behind some of the most collectible vintage Patek Philippe pieces. There’s a certain authority that comes with that provenance.

Then there’s the construction, where things become particularly compelling. This isn’t gold-plated or gold-capped in the conventional sense. Instead, a thick layer of solid gold is fused directly onto the steel across the tops of the lugs, a technique largely lost today, and seldom encountered in such fantastic condition. Over time, that gold has developed a rich, colorful tarnish, an organic patina that collectors not only appreciate but actively seek out. The bezel and crown, both in solid gold, bring a measured warmth that feels entirely intentional.

And then there is the dial. A beautifully clean, vertically brushed silver surface, punctuated by applied gold Breguet numerals, elegant, restrained, and simply striking.

It’s an object that speaks softly, but carries a remarkable amount of history in the details.

CONDITION
This timepiece is in near NOS condition, with a case as crisp as when it originally left the store in the 1940s. The dial remains nearly flawless shape with only a very few small spots.

The watch was never serviced since is NOS, but it is in great running shape.
