1960s Universal Genève Polerouter Date | Pink-On-Pink 18K Rose Gold

The renewed interest in Universal Genève has inevitably brought us back to the watches that made the name matter in the first place. And few are easier to appreciate than a great early Polerouter, beautifully proportioned, thoughtfully made, and full of small details that reward a closer look.

The pink-on-pink configuration is among the most compelling. An 18k rose gold case, still showing excellent definition through those sculpted, twisted lugs, frames a dial made from solid rose gold.

That dial is the real attraction. Its fine vertical brushing reacts constantly to the light, shifting from soft and restrained to a deep, warm pink. There’s no lume, no unnecessary decoration, just a remarkably pure design and two shades of rose gold working together.

For the Polerouter collector, this is about as charming as the model gets.

CONDITION

The twisted-lug case remains wonderfully sharp, retaining all of its original lines and definition, showing only light signs of careful wear over the decades. The watch still retains its original signed crown.

The dial has been beautifully preserved, with only a few extremely minor aging marks, almost impossible to notice with the naked eye. There is one light aging line near the date window.  The caseback engravings are no longer visible, having worn away over time.

The watch has no service history but is in good working order.
