1930s Movado Chronomètre Sector Dial | Cataltrava Stryle | Stepped Bezel | Ref. 12790 | Cal.75

At first glance, you might think of a Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 96. Look a little closer, though, and this Movado has plenty of character of its own. The sector dial is the draw, particularly when paired with those broad, elongated, heat-blued sword hands. Their proportions give the watch a presence that photographs don’t quite capture. It’s a combination worth spending some time with.

Then there’s the case. A stepped bezel is a detail we’re always happy to see, particularly on an unpolished case like this, with its crisp edges and original contours intact. Finding all these elements together is what makes this example particularly appealing.

Founded in 1881, Movado produced a remarkably varied catalogue, one that has been attracting more attention from collectors in recent years. Its water-resistant chronographs are among the most sought-after pieces, but a watch like this offers a compelling reason to look a little further.

CONDITION

The watch is in good overall condition, retaining its original hands, crown, and all other components. The dial has developed an even patina, with fine spotting evenly distributed across its surface.

The watch has just been fully serviced and is running strong.
