Finding a vintage Movado in genuinely fine condition takes patience. Finding one with a three-tone dial, a vivid yellow finish, and a mirror-polished ring is another matter altogether. The yellow here is the dial’s original color, and its pairing with a François Borgel case makes this Acvatic a particularly compelling find.
Introduced as Movado’s first waterproof wristwatch, the Acvatic represents an interesting chapter in the brand’s history.
This example houses Movado’s caliber 150MN, a dependable workhorse and one of the most robust movements of its era. The case also retains its protective dust cover, adding another layer of protection for the movement.
At 28.5mm, the case is modest by modern standards. On the wrist, though, its proportions tell a different story: the extended lugs give it a presence that the diameter alone doesn’t quite convey. Add that distinctive dial, and there’s plenty here to hold your attention.
CONDITION
The watch is in excellent overall condition, showing signs of wear while retaining the case’s well-defined lines and proportions. It has clearly been well cared for. The dial is the standout: bright, beautifully preserved, and free of visible oxidation or deterioration. Quite simply, one of the finest we’ve had the pleasure of handling.
The watch has been fully serviced and keeps a fantastic time.
The amplitude of 309° Rate +15s/d and Bear Error of 0.9ms.
