1930s Movado Novoplan | Applied Breguet Numbers | Curvex | Ref. 12255 | Cal. 440

Movado was doing some interesting things in the 1930s, and this Novoplan is a good example of why the period deserves a closer look. The collection included several case shapes, but this version has always stood out. Take a look at it from the side, and you’ll understand the appeal.

Inside is Movado’s in-house calibre 440, while the dial offers another reason to linger: applied steel Breguet numerals paired with steel sword hands. It’s a combination we’re always happy to find, particularly in a case with this much character. Put it all together, and it’s easy to see why these Novoplans have earned such a following among collectors.

CONDITION

This watch is in good, honest overall condition, with a thick case that retains its crisp edges and well-defined contours. The dial has developed an even patina, with a few small spots and light signs of ageing consistent with a watch of this period.

The watch has just been fully serviced and is in good running condition.
