Introduced in 1968, The Patek Philippe Ellipse has been a beloved model for seasoned collectors for decades. Its design is based on the 'golden ratio,' celebrated for its pleasing balance and harmony. This mathematical principle, evident in Le Corbusier's architecture and Da Vinci's art, inspired the Ellipse's softly curving case. The timeless series of numbers behind the golden ratio underpins the watch's elegant and harmonious design.
The ref. 3548 we present here hails from the very first generation of Ellipse models, specifically from the inaugural year of production in 1968. This exquisite timepiece features an 18k yellow gold case and a stunning dial made of solid gold, which has undergone a special chemical treatment to create its distinctive deep blue hue.
