1940s Longines 'Sei Tacche' | Stepped Beveled Case | Cal. 1268Z | Ref. 22359

WHY IS THIS WATCH IMPORTANT

The ¨Sei Tacche¨ is nicknamed  because of the six notches in the waterproof caseback, The Italian word “tacche” means notches and I think you can guess the meaning of Sei.

This Longines is in excellent condition, most of these pieces are in the range of 28 to 32mm, this one being 33.4mm is very, very rare. Also one detail to notice is the lug width of 18mm instead of the common 16 or 17mm.

The case is unpolished, thick and in great shape.  The dial is also very well-preserved, with only the lightest of spotting towards the edges of the dial, visible only with a loupe.

Powered by the in-house calibre 12.68z, this is a solid and reliable movement.

The case back is marked with a number 257, the same as the case lug number.

CONDITION

This watch is in overall great condition, the case is in honest, unpolished and strong shape, the crown is unsigned and original, there are two small almost imperceptible hairlines on the center of the dial,  there are minor marks on the back probably made when changing straps and opening the case. The hands show some aging and patina.
The watch keeps good time and is in running condition.
