WHY IS THIS WATCH IMPORTANT

The vintage Movado market has surged in recent years, elevating the brand status among collectors. Water-resistant chronographs are some of the most searched pieces in the Movado world.

This particular example is pretty rare and highly collectible, the appearance of a ¨Chronometre¨ writing on the dial makes it even more special, If a watch is referred to as a chronometer, it has passed intense precision tests over a 15-day period and has obtained an official rate certificate from the COSC, which is the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute. These tests measure the movement of the watch towards a set of accuracy. In order to receive this certification, the watch must remain within +6 and -4 seconds per day. Only around 3% of all Swiss watches achieved this certification.

the case is referred to as ¨Wide-Flat-Bezel¨, these are very rare and highly sought after among collectors.
