WHY IS THIS WATCH IMPORTANT

In recent years, the vintage Movado market has experienced a significant surge, enhancing the brand's standing among collectors. Established in 1881, Movado has consistently stood out as one of Switzerland's most versatile and renowned watchmakers, with water-resistant pieces being highly sought after by enthusiasts on the Movado world. 

Finding these FB Movado watches can be quite a daunting task, and this particular timepiece is exceptionally scarce. This 34mm stainless steel case was crafted by François Borgel, born in 1856. After the François Borgel operation was acquired by the Taubert & Fils family in 1924, you can find the "FB" and key insignia inside the case-backs of some of Switzerland's most renowned and easily identifiable brands.

The original crown was also meticulously designed by Taubert & Fils.

CONDITION

This watch is in excellent condition, featuring an unpolished and well-preserved case that still retains its sharp edges. The dial is truly stunning, displaying a tropical patina that leans towards shades of orange and pink, a result of the radium aging process.

As anticipated for a timepiece of this age, there are some subtle indications of wear and tiny blemishes on the dial. Notably, a radium burn caused by the hour and minute hands around the one and eight o'clock positions serves as a testament to the watch's decades-long storage in its box.

The hands were professionally relumed to match the dial color.
